Bear Peak Trail via NCAR

Take on the challenge of Bear Peak, Boulder's second tallest mountain at 8,461 ft. Starting from the NCAR parking lot, hike west to the Mesa trail then south to theoff-shoot Bear Peak canyon trail. Climb up to Bear Peak west ridge trail to reach the summit, then descend north down Fern Canyon trail to the Mesa trail and back to the start. Difficulty: Expert.
